Paul Bellardo, Fine Art
Anthropology, mythology, astronomy, literature and drama commingle within the
oeuvre of Paul Bellardo. As a self-representing artist and a connoisseur of fine
arts, Paul is remembered by many for the years he spent as a fixture in Greenwich
Village. His gallery at 100 Christopher St. in Manhattan, showcased his own sculptural
creations alongside the work of some of the nation's finest modern and contemporary
artists. Most often cited for the now infamous ceramic
apples he created during the seventies [featured in the film adaptation of
Torch Song Triology
(1988) and purchased by such notables as Elizabeth Taylor, Doris Day, Ann Miller,
Kaye Ballard, Sandy Duncan, and Mayor David Dinkins], Bellardo has remained prolific
in his output over the last four decades. Today, Paul works from his home studio
in Palm Springs, California - creating new ceramic forms and translating his vision
through new mediums.
In response to a recent surge of interest in Paul 's historic contributions
to both postmodernist and contemporary art, this website was created to afford
the public a better opportunity to learn more about the master potter and his
craft. Now featured in the collections of many national
museums, Paul's older works have become increasingly
prevalent on the art market. We hope you enjoy the website.
